Netanyahu Receives Warm Welcome in Paris
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu landed in Paris, France, Saturday evening, spending Sunday meeting with recently elected French President Emmanuel Macron and attending a series of events with Paris’ Jewish community. During his meeting with Macron, Netanyahu reportedly discussed the threat to Israel from Iran’s increasing presence in southern Syria as well as opportunities for Israel and France to work together on a wide variety of projects and areas of joint interest and benefit to both countries.

The political part of the meetings took place hours after Netanyahu and Macron took part in a ceremony in Paris to honor the victims of the Vel' d’Hiv roundup and deportation of 13,152 French Jews by the Vichy French police during World War II.

Terrorist Killed in Shootout with Police
A terrorist suspect being sought by Israeli security forces opened fire as police moved in on his hideout in the West Bank village of Nabi Salih overnight Saturday, prompting those security forces to return fire, killing the suspect while suffering no casualties themselves. The incident took place amidst a flurry of violent attacks against Israeli security forces and civilians in several locations over the weekend, none of which were fatal.

Battle Against IS Proceeds in Syria
Ground forces loyal to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad seized ground near the Islamic State (IS) terror militia’s stronghold of Raqqa, in northeastern Syria, over the weekend. The territory seized by the regime loyalists included several oil production facilities.

Israeli Sports Scene Receives Another Upgrade
The Blavatnik Family Foundation, Alex Blavatnik and the Clal Industries Group announced a grant of over $1 million over the weekend to the Israel Swimming Association. “Our goal is nothing short of creating a national system and culture to develop Israeli Olympic and World swimming champions now and in the future,” stated Blavatnik.

Guns & Roses Rock Tel Aviv
Legendary American Heavy Metal band Guns N’ Roses performed to a sold out crowd at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park Saturday evening. Despite the summer heat and the advanced age of the groups lead performers Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, the concert, part of the groups “Not in this lifetime” world tour, delighted fans for a full three hours.
