Trump Administration’s ‘Deal of the Century’ Plan Unveiled
US President Donald Trump unveiled his much anticipated “Deal of the Century” peace plan at the White House on Tuesday, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu standing next to him and giving favorable remarks of his own. The plan, including a map of borders between Israel and a future Palestinian State with its capital in some of the outlying neighborhoods of eastern Jerusalem, was immediately and angrily rejected by the Palestinian Authority despite receiving support from several Sunni Arab governments.

In the wake of the plan’s unveiling, Netanyahu announced that the cabinet would vote on annexing all Israeli settlements and the Jordan Valley in the West Bank, however, Likud officials later walked the announcement back, saying a decision on holding a vote had been delayed for an indefinite period of time. Analysts further clarified that a great deal of technical work needed to be done to prepare the documentation of such a momentous decision before a political vote could be taken.
